Reflections on things I have learned over the past year:

Ask. The worst that can happen is that you’re told no and left with what you already have.

Take that leap. What’s holding you back? Fear of the unknown? It will always be an unknown until you try it. Take the first step or ask that first question and get started.

Will babies die? (Variants to this: will anyone be physically hurt? What’s the worst that will happen if I do not do this?) Also known as CTFD. This tends to place the topic at hand into perspective extremely quick. The more someone pesters me over something that’s not life threatening, the less willing I am to help them. Ditto with yelling. If you yell at me, I will calmly ask you that question.

Know when to step away. There are times when you sell your company, found an event, or any other type of thing that you create from the ground up. The time always comes where you need to give it the freedom (and blessing) to grow beyond what you can provide.

Life has a way of making you learn and keeping you humble. Ask, investigate, take action, and reflect.
