When it rains, it pours! I’m talking in both the physical and metaphorical sense of the phrase. It’s rainy morning day three (not nearly as much as PA and NJ, but depressing for FL). Just when I thought I had a plan for my future, a hailstorm rolls though and floods the entire town.
One of my desires for the past 5 years has been to move back up north, preferably to Pennsylvania but anywhere with seasons will do. Next weekend I journey to Connecticut for an interview, an excellent opportunity that I don’t want to pass up. It isn’t 100% exactly where I want to be, but it is better than Florida in respect to the arts. The people that contacted me by phone seem very personable and seem like they are great people to for which to work.
On the other hand, the thoughts are in my mind to completely get out of the business. I can’t see myself doing this in another 10 years and I do not plan on getting my Master’s degree in it. I do believe I would like to work at a college or university and continue to work with technology in some respect, which is why I’ve been tossing around the idea of a media specialist/librarian. The job fits very well with my background and experience, but I would need to get an MLS.
Ahh, the quandaries life possesses.
If there’s anyone reading this that is a media specialist, I would love to hear what you think of the position. Also, if you’re in the New Haven, CT area I would like to hear about the artistic environment (specifically poetry) in the city.
I think I see some blue skies poking out from behind the grey clouds….
