Why and How

Why are you changing careers?

Reasons are numerous, but the main ones line up like this: 1.) My knees fight with me over the physical nature of the work and are more vocal now that I’m older. I want to appease them a bit. 2.) In my current line of work, contact with the public is extremely limited. I miss interacting with people, either by helping them find the item for which they look or by teaching a new skill. I like to see the results. Besides, it’s in my blood. My mom’s side of the family employed themselves in public works (school secretary, postmaster, bank teller), and I always admired how the treated people. 3.) I like organization. I alphabetize my CD’s and DVD’s. If it’s not in order, it bothers me. Rules are there to follow. But they’re also there to bend.

Why this blog?

This is meant to track my progress. It’s also meant as a soundboard for areas of improvement, new technology, observations, and inspiration. And maybe help someone else out along the way.

How do I plan on doing this?

In general, pure perseverance and searching until I find where I belong. I welcome any input or personal experience in changing careers into library science, or the state of entertainment today.
